This year’s Advent Lutheran Church Music Scholarship winner is Rachel Hammond. Rachel, who attends 7th grade at Indian Valley Middle School, has been playing violin since 3rd grade and has played in both elementary and middle school orchestra.

Established in 2010, the Music Scholarship Fund of Advent Lutheran Church supports musicians in their private lessons and in turn, the congregation in worship.  Musicians who are awarded the scholarship seek lessons from their teacher of choice for one year.  In return, they commit to playing in worship on a regular basis, at least twice monthly. The symbiotic relationship benefits everyone: worship experience is enhanced by the addition of instruments, and the students gain valuable experience playing in ensembles, and in front of other people.

Voting representatives from Advent (Joan Kelley, Pastor Steve Godsall-Myers and Joe Kelley) enjoyed the Assembly and brought along our friend, Martin Luther!

The Gospel Choir from the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany will be on tour in Southeast Pennsylvania in early May.  The choir will present their American debut on Friday May 10 at 7:00pm at Huff's Church, Alburtis, PA.  The other venues on their tour will include: Augustus Lutheran Church, Trappe (May 11, 7:00pm), Advent Lutheran Church, Harleysville (Sunday morning May 12, 8:30am), St Peter's Lutheran Church, North Wales (May 13, 7:00pm), The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (May 14, 7:00pm), and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Philadelphia (May 16, 7:00pm).
