FallFest Was a Huge Success PDF Print E-mail

Advent Lutheran Church of Harleysville hosted its first Fall Fest in September, which raised $2,000 for Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton. Pictured, from left: Advent's Pastor Steve Godsall-Myers, Fall Fest Coordinator Carly Smith, and Keystone's Executive Director Richard Aichele.On September 24th Advent hosted its inaugural FallFest, a new opportunity to have fellowship time with our Advent family, welcome and introduce ourselves to the community, and raise funds to help our Youth programs, as well as Keystone Opportunity Center. What a success!

Our Blessings 
Thanks to wonderful folks and supportive local organizations, FallFest raised $4,800! Advent was able to give back to the community from which it has grown, making donations to Keystone Opportunity Center, Harleysville Fire Company and its own church Youth programs.

It was a blessing to have such a successful first event and to share our energy with those who attended from the community. Guests enjoyed their time at FallFest because Advent members were such gracious hosts who extended a warm welcome.

Special Guests

Our success was also due to some special guests that spent time with us at FallFest. We would like to acknowledge and thank Bob Swaim for sharing his impressive bike collection and winning attitude. You can find videos of Bob on YouTube demonstrating his bikes. Also a warm thanks to the Harleysville Fire Company for bringing over their ladder tuck to share with us.

 

A very appreciative thank you also goes out to Little Zion Lutheran and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for allowing us to borrow tables to provide for vendors.

 

We Love to Eat

Our food tent was a delicious and busy place. We were able to supply that station with donations from our very own Fellowship Team at Advent, as well as Giant Food Stores. We were also able to purchase bulk items at a reduced price from Henning’s Market, Hatfield Meats and Corropolese Bakery and Deli.

 

Winning Efforts

I would also like to highlight our Chili cook off and Scarecrow contest. They both added a fun fall touch to the festival. Our Chili cook off winner was Joe Hammond, who won an Amazon.com gift card. Our Scarecrow contest winners were 1st place Sophia Devoll, who won $50 in AMC Theatre gift cards and 2nd place went to the Booth family winning a $20 WalMart gift card.
