Join us for Thursday morning Bible Study! We are studying Paul’s Letter to the Galatians - Set Free by God’s Grace. We meet on Thursday mornings thru October 28th at 10:00 am. Bring your Bible, bring your interest in God’s Word, bring your questions. We meet for an hour and a half. There is childcare available in the Nursery.
"Sunday Morning Conversation" Class meets in the Parlor on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m.
Our “conversation” is actually in the form of a Bible study. We use an African Bible study method. This method is unique in that it is not a lecture based study. It is a personal exploration of specific Bible passages.
There are no” right “or “wrong” answers and what makes this very interesting is the fact that the same passage could reach out to each person in a different way. This study helps us to hear God as he speaks to us through His word. It reaches us where we are that particular day in that particular moment.
In addition to learning to hear God’s voice, we also learn to listen to those around us. In our very hectic, fast paced lives, we often rush through our conversations. We may “hear” what people are telling us, but are we really “listening”? The structure of this Bible study does not allow for feedback from the group initially. We are to absorb the personal reflections of each group member, truly listening to that person. Eventually, being a social group, we open things up for a non-judgmental discussion. By the end of the study time, each person leaves with a better understanding of what God is saying, not just to one person, but to the whole group.
As a leader of this group, I am always in awe as I watch God working in our study. It seems there is always a connection made, whether it be a better understanding of that particular passage, or two or more people really connecting on an issue and supporting each other. It is a wonderful way to get to know God better while also getting to know your fellow church members.
If you have ever considered a Bible study but were a little apprehensive, this is the way to go. We would love for you to join our Sunday Morning Conversation. We meet at 9:45 in the Parlor. Bring your coffee and listen to what God has offered us. Who knows, after awhile, you may want to lead a session yourself…and we can always use more leaders. |
