Below you will find some of Advent's latest news

  • 6-11-2020 Reopening CHurch Team Announcement

When we first stopped our in-person worship services in March, no one anticipated that we would be out of the building this long. We now face a time when limited social gatherings (with masks and distancing) are being permitted, but the danger of Covid-19 is still very real and medical experts are warning of continued risk. Some churches are jumping back into "Normal" worship and fellowship; others are speodning more time with the safety issues. At Advent, we have decided that our actions are not going to be based on "what is legal" but rather, what is medically wise, socially responsible, and living out our Christian call to love our neighbor....

  • Building Improvement Fund appeal - Roof Replacement and online worship support

In 1991, members from the Old Goschenhoppen church took a leap of faith and moved to the current Harleysville location. The original building is now 29 years old and just like our personal homes our Advent building requires ongoing maintenance and at times significant projects.

At the annual Congregational Meeting in January it was approved to initiate a Building Fund Appeal with a goal of a minimum of $130,000 to ensure we have the funds require for these projects. At that time, the projects included roof replaces, driveway paving, parking lot paving, air conditioning unit and flooring/carpet replacement.

Due to the events of the past few months related to the Coronavirus, the Building Improvement Fund Appeal scope has been reduced and modified. The request will be for $40,000 to cover the cost of the roof replacement and to support the Audio/Video position and additional equipment required to maintain the online worship through the end of 2020...

  • 3-13-2020 Covid-19 announcement

Our first reading for Sunday ends with the words, "Is God in this place or not?" What a great question. Everything is chaotic and crazy. Events are cancelled. Futures are uncertain. Where is God? Is God in this place or not? I trust we are going to be able to strongly answer, "Yes!"

God has cared for us, and is with us the midst of this pandemic. We want to do what we can to remind each other, to engage with our community and with God, and to care for one another. We want to be church. Our staff met this morning to talk about how we will do that.
