The other night, as I was driving home down 113 with our friend from San Diego, she said: “Wow, look at that sunset!” And, there, the southwestern part of the sky was filled – with puffs and twirls and streaks of reds and purples. It was magnificent, it was glorious!
I know I could fill hours hearing scientists explain how light is refracted and reflected to provide such a skyscape. But I was content to think of this as God’s creation – God’s end-of-a-long-day gift – to all who ‘happened’ to be looking skyward. And, as we drove along and continued to look westward (between patches of trees on the side of the road), we realized that the ‘art’ was changing – the reds were being stretched, the purple accents were changing – yes, my Seminary Professor was correct – creation, God’s creation, is continuing!
What a nice thought to close the day with! What a reminder to keep looking up!
The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1
