We are in the Season of Pentecost, the longest of the Church Year, starting with Pentecost Sunday (May 24 this year) and continuing, with the exception of a few festival Sundays along the way, until Christ the King Sunday in November. This is often referred to as "Ordinary Time," not "ordinary" as in "nothing special" but rather "orderly time" during which the life and teachings of Jesus Christ are addressed in roughly the order they appear in Scripture.
